This was a short study of architecture and the mood of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I tried to limit myself to a palette of  warm golds, brown, cream, and lavender and to focus on the mood of the structures and architectural details there. Click on any of the images to see them larger.

This weekend I attended The World Championships of Punkin Chunkin in southern Delaware.  In the first image here you can see the fantastically medieval-looking Yankee Siege which set a new world record of chunkin a pumpkin this year with 2034 feet in the trebuchet category. What intrigued me even more were the innovative tailgating methods employed by the attendees of the chunk which included a portable ridable hydraulic can crusher, portable card room, portable tenting platform with ladder, and of course their own portapotties! I may have to return next year to fully document this. Of course there are dangers such as the pumpkins flying the wrong way at 700 mph.  Just as dangerous the drunk and exuberant beer pongers and barbecuers who managed to block our way out of the parking lot for over 30 minutes.  If this has piqued your curiosity the punkin chunkin part of the competition (as opposed to the beer pong section and Miss Punkin Chunkin beauty pageant) is going to be featured on The Science Channel this Thanksgiving evening.
