Punkin Chunkin

(Click on these images to see them larger)punkinchunkinpage1punkinchunkinpage2_dsc7770 This weekend I attended The World Championships of Punkin Chunkin in southern Delaware.  In the first image here you can see the fantastically medieval-looking Yankee Siege which set a new world record of chunkin a pumpkin this year with 2034 feet in the trebuchet category. What intrigued me even more were the innovative tailgating methods employed by the attendees of the chunk which included a portable ridable hydraulic can crusher, portable card room, portable tenting platform with ladder, and of course their own portapotties! I may have to return next year to fully document this. Of course there are dangers such as the pumpkins flying the wrong way at 700 mph.  Just as dangerous the drunk and exuberant beer pongers and barbecuers who managed to block our way out of the parking lot for over 30 minutes.
